Making, Creating, Fixing Together (MCFiT) is not a typical How Was Your Week meeting. Instead it is a live action focus meeting.

The topic we have in common as attendees of the Lifering MCFiT focus group meeting is that we make, create and fix objects as a normal part of being human – and benefit from these activities in our recovery journey. At MCFiT meetings, we’re sharing about those activities. We show them with our video cameras, live in our meetings.

As a hobby or as a one-time event making, creating and fixing objects helps us in our recovery from addiction and substance abuse. These activities are often fun, but sometimes mundane.

Examples might be:

*Baking fancy pastries

*Fixing a car engine

*Taking the tarnish off an old sign

*Addressing thank you cards

*Sewing a torn hem

*Painting a picture

*Fixing a cattle enclosure

*Creating a soup recipe

*Collecting sea shells

*Repurposing old candle wax

*Making throw pillows

*Salvaging a worn-out quilt

*Crocheting a scarf

*Etc.

These activities keep our hands and minds busy, and involve decision making and execution. We experience successes, mistakes and corrections along the way as we make, create or fix objects in our lives.

Your personal recovery plan might include activities you’d like to share with others in the Lifering secular recovery community. The Making, Creating, Fixing Together (MCFiT) meeting is an opportunity to do so where others in recovery may benefit from hearing you share about your activity.

This is a raise your hand meeting. This is not a How Was Your Week style of meeting where the Convener goes around the screen asking individuals if they’d like to share about their week.

Generally speaking the MCFiT meeting format will be as follows:

1. The appetizer round: At the start of the meeting people who raise their hands will verbally take around 10 seconds to say what they will be sharing/ showing during that meeting. This is an appetizer for attendees to anticipate what’s coming in each person’s full share.

2. Cohosts will make a list of the appetizers and drop the list into chat. Attendees can view that list as a reminder of what’s coming up in full shares.

3. Main course: Then attendees will again raise their hands to get in line for a more substantial share, and showing us what they’re working on.

Enjoy fellowship and community support at this Lifering Secular Recovery meeting.

All are welcome to attend the Making, Creating, Fixing Together meetings. Speaking and sharing is not a requirement of attendance
